GE DRIP Details:
The General Electric Dividend Reinvestment Plan offers a pretty decent holding vehicle for your GE investment with its $7.5 account setup fee and $3 optional investment fee. The difference between this DRIP and an account at a low cost brokerage such as Sharebuilder would be pretty minimal. If you are looking to dollar cost average with regular automatic investments in small amounts over a long period of time, the GE DRIP will be your lowest cost holding vehicle. However, in general we would have to lean toward considering a low cost brokerages such as Sharebuilder given its ability to allow you to invest in mutiple stocks and no account setup fee for all other investment styles.
Pros:
Initial investment through plan, no dividend reinvestment fee
Cons:
$7.50 account setup fee, $3 optional cash purchase fee
